So no, Erikson himself has confirmed it.
HoC spoilers: The dead Bridgeburners make an appearance in HoC. Whiskeyjack is not among them.
BH spoilers:Paran(link) spoilers:Paran (link) speaks with members of the dead ascendant Bridgeburners in BH, mainly Hedge (link). Whiskeyjack is noticably absent during this scene. It's not yet known why he has not reappeared with the other dead Bridgeburners, but possible reasons include his special burial on Moon's Spawn under Rake's sorceries and the grudge Hood bore against him.
However, a new character was referred to in BH - the Iron Prophet, Iskar Jarak (create a link). From his description, he is almost certainly Whiskeyjack. This character seem's to be Whiskeyjack from earlier in the malazan timeline. It is not expected that we will see more of Whiskeyjack in the present. For more information, see (FAQ to be created).
Back to MOI FAQ's

Hello everyone,

Normally I don\'t step in, especially this early in the game with Toll the Hounds still a few months from being released, but it occurs to me you might find it useful if I toss in a few comments to assist you in your discussions. This is all pretty random, but here goes:

The two dead characters in the prologue are not related to anyone seen in the books; in fact, they are generic and won\'t be seen again -- no need to speculate on their identities. At the end of that sequence, when she says: \'oh here comes my carriage,\' this is simply the product of being exceptionally brainless on her part, and highborn to boot. Trust me when I say that what\'s on its way ain\'t her carriage. That section, with the two corpses, needs to be read through to a deeper level than what\'s on the surface.

You\'ve not yet met the third member in Kruppe\'s little gathering. By the novel\'s end you will know precisely who the man is.
Steven Erikson Answers Questions Five

Steven Erikson leaped on to the epic fantasy scene a few years ago with his debut fantasy novel, Gardens of the Moon, the beginning of an ambitious 10-book series: The Malazan Book of the Fallen. It’s often a case of love them or hate ‘em when it comes to his books, but he has a rabid fan base that I count myself a part of. Publishing the books at rate of about 1 book a year, 7 of the 10 are already published with Toll the Hounds due out later this year. And, in my opinion, his shorter fiction is even better.

I am pleased welcome Steven Erikson to Questions 5.

What is the perfect cup of coffee for writing your books? Do ever need something a bit more…leaded?

SE: I’m pretty consistent with a skinny latte, two shots, no foam (crazy that I need to specify no foam, since if I wanted foam I’d ask for a cappuccino, wouldn’t I?). As for ‘more leaded,’ no, bar

What is the Encyclopaedia Malazica?
Until Steven Erikson himself provides us fans with all the information on the Malazan World, it is us fans, on whose shoulders rests the task of putting together the great puzzles, bringing light into the delicious mysteries and helping fellow fans to understand the intricacies of this great work. The Encyclopedia Malazica is a project that attempts to do just that - pool together our wits and observations and make the results of our many discussions (on the MalazanEmpireForums and otherwise) available to those, who do not have the patience to dig through hundreds of pages of obscure threads. A reference as you're reading or discussing the Malazan Book of the Fallen, to look up subjects that you forgot since your last read, or had you confused in the first place. At least that's the idea ... work has only just begun ;-).
project. The encyclopediaforum is where you should go if</del

Is Dessembrae actually Dassem Ultor, and is there a link to Dessimbelackis?

The answers are yes, and no.

Dassem Ultor is certainly Dessembrae, Lord of Tears. See Dassem's page on the wiki for the evidence, but the most concise piece is:

''Dessembrae. The Cult of Dassem.''

- thoughts of Fiddler (DG, TPB p.321, UK mmpb p.452)

The similarity of name to Dessimbelackis has led many to speculate that Dassem Ultor is somehow connected to the mysterious leader of the First Human Empire. However, the author has flatly denied in interviews that the characters are linked. (ref needed). I think we can take his word for it.
